Hi everyone and welcome to Spring and our continuing SBC 25th year anniversary theme.
The meeting this month will feature a talk given by Roberto Racca, CCO, JASCO Applied Sciences. JASCO (www.jasco.com) is a local Canadian corporation with fully owned operating companies in 5 countries and has, for over 35 years, provided services and equipment for the estimation and measurement of underwater noise and its potential effects on aquatic life.
Last month, Terry Curran talked to us (YouTube Link) about some of the early history of IOS and local marine science and technology companies so, we are very fortunate this month to hear more about one of these very companies. Roberto, who first started consulting with JASCO in 1986, later served as VP for R&D and took up the role of President & CEO in 2000 with the acquisition of the company by himself and two partners. His talk, “Growing a niche company into a world leader”, will lead us through the eventful history of JASCO from its inception as a near-dedicated consulting firm to its position today as one of the most globally recognized names in the science and technology of underwater acoustics and bioacoustics.
I look forward to hearing more about one of our local company success stories and expect this will be an interesting and informative talk and follow-on discussion.
