SBC May 10th – Peter Evans, CEO – CryoLogistics Refrigeration Technologies Ltd.
Good morning everyone! I’m excited to be announcing Peter Evans as our May 10th speaker. His start-up business story has so many local nuances to it. I’m so glad to hear that the myriad of different parts (conversation, advise, persistence, relationship, financing, heart-ache, success) over the years have come together in such a success story, I cannot wait to hear Peter reflect on his start-up story regarding CryoLogistics Refrigeration Technologies Ltd.
Peter started his adult life as a police officer and went on to serve 25 years with the RCMP in locations all across Canada including the far North. Following his retirement Peter went into a number of private sector leadership positions beginning with the Vancouver Airport Authority and including work with a national telecommunications company and an architectural and engineering consultancy. He launched CryoLogistics in 2011 and began collaborating with the University of Victoria Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Since that time he has also engaged with Camosun College and from both of those esteemed local educational organizations has been able to leverage nine different Co-op students all of whom are studying to be mechanical engineers. The past year has seen a significant advancement in the technological development of the product he intends to take to market and that he will describe at our May 10th meeting.
CryoLogistics Refrigeration Technologies Ltd. has succeeded in raising $1.1 million this year in seed capital and has established strong relationships with various government granting agencies. Somewhere in the midst of this Peter found time to complete a Master’s degree at Royal Roads University. He’s an Island born former cop turned entrepreneur who is determined to make Victoria a centre of excellence for the Clean Technology Industry that will address and solve problems around the world.
