Happy fall everyone although I don’t remember this much rain in October. But, on a positive note, the November SBC meeting is just around the corner and we have the opportunity to hear again from another one of our local companies that last presented to our group in 2011.
The meeting this month will feature a talk given by Terry Tarle, CEO of AXYS Technologies Inc. For those of you that have been in the area for some time, you will be well aware of the AXYS group of companies operating in our local community for the past 40 years. It has always been interesting to me hearing from companies and people (with some history and experience) about how they are remaining successful by changing with the times. This talk should provide another unique perspective on success.
Terry joined AXYS as President and CEO in Feb. 2014 from his post at Aeroinfo Systems (a Boeing company) in Richmond where he was Chief Operating Officer He was also the national director of Telus Geometrics and a senior vice president with Sierra Systems. Most importantly to our community, he had previously founded a Victoria based high tech company which he led for 14 years. Terry, over the past 2 years is leading AXYS Technologies forward and will be talking to us today about “AXYS-APS -> Outside-In Product Development”.
Terry will describe the transformation of AXYS from an engineering-centric focus to a market-led, sales driven company that creates products that customers love. He will use the company’s latest product, AXYS Analytics Portal Services (AXYS-APS), as a real world case study on how this new approach led to innovation and a significant market pull for this new product.
Note: For details, a printable meeting notice can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:Agenda-8-Dec2016. As always, the meeting is held at 7am on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Victoria Flying Club Dakota Café.
I look forward to seeing you on Thursday 10th Nov., 2016 at 7am and, as before, please RSVP (cooke @ieee.org) only if you plan on attending.
